Programmer and occasional musician. I make useful things with computers!

This website has been built from scratch. Feel free to check out its source at /projects/website.

I developed this site as a way to host and demonstrate the projects I've made, as well as write about things that interest me and the work that I've done in the past.

The majority of my software development experience is in systems programming, mostly with C and C++. I started learning programming in 2011 by writing homebrew apps in C for the Nintendo Wii. I soon realised that what I was learning was at the foundation of just about everything in IT, and that the skills I was gaining were easily transferrable to other platforms. After high school, I did a software development course where we learned several different languages and kinds of software, which only increased my appetite for learning more areas of programming and further sharpening my skills. After several years of studying CS, both in higher education and in my own time, I secured a full-time position as an embedded C++ engineer at an IT security company. In that time, among other things I wrote a Bluetooth Low Energy firmware that ran on bare metal with zero dependencies. Since then, I have worked on video streaming technology on mobile devices in partnership with Dolby Laboratories, and am currently developing my own app with the aim of training musicians and inviting people from all walks of life to explore the wonder of learning music.

I'm interested in developing projects that are of genuine utility, and that perform well with a decent level of polish. Most of the programs I've worked on in the last couple of years were designed to assist with accomplishing all sorts of tasks, such as an application launcher that I use everyday, a replacement for the product app I used every shift at a prior retail job, and improving a medical analysis tool well-known in the opthamology industry. I endeavour to contribute to software that improves the lives of the people that use them.
